Biography
Ebony “KARMA” Dior established her alternative & gritty R & B credentials in 2009 with "A Shallow Bed with No Roses," a boisterous debut single that put her on the fast-track to her becoming one of the most dynamic indie artists in post-millennial contemporary music. In 2014, KARMA released the EDM powerhouse “Dirty Knees” and the cryptic and taunting “Lions Den”, a Kat Daliah (Hue) reinterpretation. KARMA has continually pushed ahead stylistically with her nod to things psychadelic and mad. Highlighted by the bold The Epoch Vol.1: The Red Queen which confounded expectations and landed her a “Best New Artist” nomination from The Underground Music Awards in New York, NY. Her secondary discography is impressive as well, with underground hits headlined by the likes of Sara Stokes (MTV’s DaBand) of which Ebony did appear on briefly, (“Your Love”, 2015) (“Save Me”, 2016, (“F.A.M.E.”(2020), & (“PRBLM #444332”, 2020).
Born Ebony Carolyn Bankston in Saint Clair, Michigan, USA, KARMA displayed star quality as a child, often performing at dances & winning school talent shows for her dancing skills. Her break came courtesy of a distribution deal with Urbanlife Distribution , under the infamous Rapbay label. She’s been on 50 Cents & Chris Brown’s blog “This is 50” & “Mechanical Dummy”. Legendary status is in the cards for this siren. Her face card never declines, she vogues when she puts on her makeup and she only wore couture for her first video, “Chicago Nights” (2021). It is a jazzy ensemble, totally written by KARMA and produced by the UK’s Beatowski, famous on YouTube for his lo-fi Chillhop beats. She hopes “Chicago Nights” will win her her first Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2022.
